VOL. I. NO. 10COOK ELECTRICTlFACTORY COMINGAssert I hey Have Not Changed Plans in Least Regarding Coming to Zion City.Quite a little has been said concerning the Frank B. Cook Electrical Factory of Zion City, and a number of rumors have been circulated varying very much in detail and such variation has caused quite a little anxiety on the part of many of our citizens. In view of this, eight of our citizens made a trip to Chicago on Wednesday last and interviewed the Cooks. The eight consisted of H. Worthington Judd, J. D. Johnson, Wesley Belknap, Arthur Stevenson, W. F. Miller, W. H. Lichty, J. A. Goudy and John IT. Sayrs. We were received at the Cook factory on Lake street and had a very interesting interview. The Cooks assured us that they had in no way made any change in their plans of coming to Zion City. They have delayed for some time for a two-fold reason: because of certain unrests in Zion City and secondly because of the nature of their work and the extent of their business making it necessary that they widen out their factory in Chi-sion. The guests, sixty-five in : all, assembled on the lawn, and | at 5:30 p. m., to the strains of ! Mendelsohn’s “Wedding March” played by Miss Bertha Coult-hard, the bridal party took their ! places upon the porch, and the ! beautiful ceremony was enacted. The bride was dressed in white silk, trimmed with Maltese lace, which was a gift, and carried a bouquet of roses, while the groom wore the conventional black. At the close of the ceremony Miss Martha Mayhak gave an original reading, “How It Happened,” and Evangelist Buss rendered some cornet selections in his inimicable style. The happy couple were not allowed to depart for their honeymoon without receiving the attentions of their many young friends, who had a great deal of enjoyment by boarding the cars on which the bridal pair left and informing the other occupants Pa of the happy event, much to the sc! dismay of the young couple, but to the amusement of those on the cars. Quite a number remained on the cars, riding to Waukegan, where the bride and groom took train to Indianapolis. After a short holiday they will return to this city and will be at home to their many friends at No. 3018 Gilboa avenue, where the groom has built a home.A large number of gifts, many quite valuable, were received by this estimable young couple, showing the esteem in which 'they are held by their manydehoantofuwlsh;eqneofnestiqucago. The plans for the work in Zion City will be entered into quite definitely asguests were from Chicago and Kenosha. We extend, on behalf of our readers, our hearty congratulations and best wishes for their future happiness.hoTopeW(reanhovahoOrZi.hefahethbeof, , ,. ... A cleaner line of manufacture could not be broght to our city, telephone instruments, magne-toes, cable terminals and such like constituting the line of manufacture. The small objection brought about by a few of our citizens concerning such factories as this being permitted to be brought to our city sinks into insignificance when we compare the manner of conducting such a factory, its usefulness to humanity, its blessings to our citizens financially without necessitatingheld to his office for months and a rest will do him great good. We wish him a splendid time. The Misses Martha and Kattie Mayhak left for Indianapolis, Indiana, August 4th, where they will attend Dr. Yoakum’s meetings for several days. From there they will make an extended visit in Dayton, Ohio, with Mr. and Mrs. D. A. VanAusdall. They assure us that they will miss the earnest meetings held at the Administration building. The Independent will be a visitor at their home while in Dayton.Rlt;StHF;SIIiGGCtiQuite a number of our citizens \\• T 1 • it , 1 • i 'the violations of any of our city are in Indianapolis this week to restrictions—we say that these attend the meeting which is ri • i • i _ i i________ii. •_____ 1__' i___lt; _ l ii . i iobjections are only the mouthings being conducted there,—the of selflfish, shortsighted, narrow camp meeting of the Pentecostdesigners, who are set on the Band.
