Sandons celebrate golden anniversaryHERB AND GLORIA Sandon of Kalispell recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.Herb and Gloria Sandon of Kalispell celebrated their 50th anniversary July 24.They were honored with an open house hosted by their children, at their son’s home in Evergreen.The Sandons were married July 24, 1952, in Coeur d’Alene.They have seven children: Linda, Cheryl, Karen, Greg, and Jan and her husband, Bill, all of Kalispell; Judy of Oak Creek, Wis.; and Debbie and her husband, Brent, and family of Honolulu.He has worked in the Elat-head and surrounding areas since 1953. He worked on Libby Dam, Hungry Horse Dam and McNary Dam in Oregon. He started Sandon Construction and built many homes in the area and expanded to business projects that include schools, banks and other localbuildings. In the 1970s, heexpanded to concrete projects that include sidewalks, driveways, alleys and rebuilding Main Street in the ‘80s.After his retirement in 1986, his son, Greg, continued operating Sandon Construction.Herb is a member of Algeria Shrine Temple, Flathead Shrine Club and the Royal Order of Jesters.The couple was surprised by Herb’s brother, Bob Sandon, of Phoenix, whom they hadn’t seen since he appeared for their 40th anniversary.Other out-of-town guests included Gloria’s brother, Jerry and his wife, Betty Gronley, and their daughter, Dee, all of Seattle; Gloria’s sister, Fran Roth and her daughter, Marilyn, of Spokane; their granddaughter, Tiffany and family of Seattle; Wayne Just and daughter of Oak Creek, Wis., and their daughters, Jody and Kristi, of Helena.They also were honored by their 11 grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren, and local relatives, including Stan and Garnett Gronley, Leroy and Joyce Gronley, Lew and Bev Schenck, and many nieces and nephews with their families, and the many friends that came to celebrate this spe cial event.The couple was given two framed collages made with pic tures covering the past 50 years, and various 1952 memorabilia from their children.
