Cattle Wintered on Clearwatert.in Good Condition.* .' «.♦Wm. and James Wyllie and Frank Harsh arrived the latter part of the week from their trip to the Middle Fork country in the foothills of the Bitter Roots, to bring their cattle out to market. They have 41 head in the band,' all range-fed, and they are as fat and good looking animals as one could expect to see raised on any feed and under the most favorable conditions. The cattle will be held on Red river for a time to await a better market, when, probably, they will be driven outside.The trip to and from the Mid* die Fork was not without incident; it required three weeks longer than the parties figured on, but the outing was enjoyed. The delay was caused by swollen streams, the party having to camp two weeks on the trip in before they could cross the Clear-, water. At the ranch they found everything lovely—flowers inbloom, grass high enough for hay and vegetables plenty to eat. The efforts of Wm. Wyllie and Frank Harsh at strawberry culture, two years ago, were bearing fruit in abundance, and the party lived high while at the ranch. James Wyllie, who was a resident of Scotland up to two years ago, and upon whom the greatness of America is gradually dawning, as he takes little excursions out into the tall timber, extracted more pleasure from the trip than did either of the other members. He fished and hunted and in the latter diversion brought down a huge mountain lion that attempted to cross his path and get away. He also got a “biecq” of a boar, but there wasn’t enough of it to make an exhibit to his friends.The range on the Middle foj;k is fine at this season, and stoqk always feed all winter there.
