Brownfield-Peters Nuptials Held In Sacred Heart Catholic ChurchJodeane Peters and Delbert Brownfield were united in marriage at a double ringceremony performed by the Rev. Father Healey at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.The new Mrs. Brownfield isthe daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Peters and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Pearl Brownfield, all of Red Bluff.For the ceremony the bride wore a floor length gown with a long chapel train of white French peau de soie with a silkand polyster chiffon overlay. White daisy appliques seeded with pearls covered the bodice and decorated the full skirt andsleeves. The gown was accentedwith a wedding ring collar. The long, puffed sleeves were of silk and polyester chiffon with French peau de soie cuffs and a small ruffle decorated with tiny daisies. A large circular ruffle also made of French peau de soie and a silk and polyester chiffon overlay trimmed the hemline.edged with tiny daisies, was attached to a Juliet cap which was decorated with the samedaisies and seeded pearls. The gown and veil was designed and made by Mrs. Vera Warren.She carried a crescent shaped bouqufet of yellow roses, daisies, ivy and baby’s breath. She also carried two long stemmed yellow roses which she presented to her mother and the mother of the groom as she walked down the aisle.Serving as maid of honor was the bride’s sister, Nancy Peters. She was dressed in a gown of white daisy eyelet lined in blue and carried a basket of yellow daisies and baby’s breath. She wore a yellow picture hat.Debbie Clifford. Debbie Slattery, Denise Martin, Carmel Growney and Melinda Wardinski were the bride's attendants. All were dressed infloor length backless gowns of white daisy eyelet lined in yellow and wore yellow picture hats and carried baskets of blue daisies and baby’s breath. Each wore lockets, a gift from the bride.The flower girl was Andrea George of Corning. She was attired the same as the maid of honor. Ring bearer was Aaron Barnes of Davis, cousin of the bride.Greg Mendonsa served as best man while Joe Brownfield, brother of the groom, John Trede, Ken Peters and Skiff Peters, brothers of the bride, and Mike Toth served as ushers.Solists at the wedding were Ron Hines and Noel Saunders, accompanied by Jane Harter at the organ. Commentator was Patty Plemmons, a close friend of the bride.The reception for the 500guests was held at the Woman’s Clubhouse which had been decorated with manzanita bushes adorned with blue andyellow flowers and white doves in planter boxes of blue and yellow, which had been made byPaul Tatro and arranged and painted by the bride’s mother. Above the stage hung bells with the names “Jodeane and Delbert” and manzanita bushes on the stage steps. Planter boxes also adorned the interior of theballroom with white honeycomb wedding bells throughout. Centerpieces on the individual tables were figurines of a boy and a girl sitting on a bench with a dog by their feet and a“I Love You.” Thesignfigurines were adourned with greenery and daisies at the base and a carved heart with thewords “Delbert and Jody.”that stood directly above them. They were handmade and painted by the bride’s mother and contained the names of thebride and groom and the wedding date.The five tiered wedding cake was baked and decorated by Mrs. Barbara Frost. The cake was topped by fresh yellow daisies, which had also been used with greenery at the base of the cake. The cake wasIn]MR. AND MRS. Thegroom’s other cake revealed a figurine of a bride.Used to cut the cake was the gold knife that had been used by the bride’s grandparents, Dorothy Peters and the late Joseph Peters on their 50th wedding anniversary, April 21, 1969. A silver ladle used for the punch was over a hundred years old, belonging to the family of Lola Turner of Corning. The silver toasting gobletsengraved with the bride and groom’s names and weddingdate were a gift from the bride’s sister, Nancy Peters. The cake knife and toasting glasses were decorated with white daisies andMary Alice George and Diane Blythe.Thank you scrolls were distributed to the guests in appreciation for their attendance by Aaron and Mason Barnes and Joe Brownfield, Jr.Music at the reception was provided by the “Mama’s Boys.The bride’s parents hosted a dinner in their home for the wedding party following the wedding rehearsal. They also hosted a dinner at the Los Molinos Fireside Inn for the immediate family and close friends.99The bride donned a pansy print, taffeta, A-line dress with scoop neckline and short puff sleeves for a honeymoon trip to Eureka and along the coastline. The dress was designed and made by Mrs. Doris Humphreys. The March of Dimes teens serve as child-aids.“At the present, those who seek help through genetic counseling are most often parents who have already had defective child,” states Dr.Erickson. Some come becauseof a family history of conditions which indicate a strong chance of reoccurrence.
