The dinner concluded a series of prenuptial parties for the coupleHosts for the dinner were his parents, Mr and Mrs George Edwin Rushing, of Garland Places were also laid for her parents, Mr and Mrs J W Winsett of Garland, members of the immediate families and members of the couple’s wed ding party On Monday. June 8, the former Miss Winsett was enter tained with a rice bag party Rice bags were made and refreshments were served Those attending were mothers of the couple and memoers of the wedding party The TPL room in Garland was the setting of a miscellaneous shower honoring the former Miss Winsett on Monday, June 15.Hostess was the maid of honor, Miss Sherry Bolton.The guest registry table fea tured the guest book, which was a gift of the maid of honor, and a decorative bridal orna mentThe refreshment table was laid with a white lace tablecloth over pink The table was centered with an arrangement of miniature wedding bells surrounding the punch bowl Raspberry sherbert punch, cookies, mints, and nuts served approximately 25 guests Decorations featured pink and burgundy, chosen colors of thebride-to-be. Miss Winsett received a corsage of pink carnations trimmed with burgundy ribbons The maid of honor presented the corsage to Miss Winsett.Miss Betty Rushing, sister of the bridegroom and a bridesmaid honored the bride-elect with a tea shower in her home, 725 Branch, on Sunday, June 28The refreshment table was overlaid with a white linen tablecloth The table was centered with an arrangement of pink carnations and pink chrysanthemums with three pink streamers descending from the arrangement that had the bride’s name, the date of the wedding, and the bridegroom s nameGifts were displayed and guests were registered by Mrs. Ellen Odum, aunt of the bride.Exchanging vows in a double ring ceremony Saturday night at 8 o’clock at First United Methodist Church were Miss Linda Gaile Winsett and Edwin Ray Rushing with Rev. G. W French Jr officiating.Parents of the couple are Mr and Mrs J. W Winsett of 3130 Old Orchard and Mr and Mrs. George Edwin Rushing of 725 Branch.Tiered and branched candela bra holding tall white cathedral tapers and baskets of bridal flowers pedestaled atop white columns decorated the altar Traditional wedding music was presented by Larry Tonroy, organist.At the close of the ceremony as the couple knelt on the prie dieu the Lord’s Prayer was recited.Escorted to the altar and given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white satin beneath a silhouette of re-embroidered French lace. The natural line bodice was enhanced with a high rise neckline and Juliette sleeves.Her delicate mantilla of silk French illusion fell to cathedral length from a headpiece of peau de soie fashioned in a crown effect. Motifs of the same lace edged the entire veil. She carried a bouquet of white carnations surrounding a detachable nosegay of rose buds showered with white satin streamers. For her something new, the bride wore a strand of pearls which were a gift from the bridegroom.Maid of honor was Miss Sherry Bolton of Garland Bridesmaid was Miss Betty Rushing, sister of the bridegroom. They wore formal gowns of soft pink slipper satin beneath a silhouette of burgundy silk organza Designed with a scooped neckline, the gown also featured long sheer sleeves accented at the wrists with ruffles. A velvet bow emphasised the empire line and fell to the length of the hemline in back. Both wore pink satin bows overlaid with burgundy silk organza as headpieces and carried nosegays of pink carnations festooned with burgundy streamers. They also wore crystal cut necklaces which were gifts from the bride.Best man was Larry Barbee and groomsman was TomGlynn.Tom Cross. Virgil Winsett, uncle of the bride; and James Winsett, the bride’s brother, were ushers.Candlelighters were Miss Kay Winsett. the bride’s sister, and Miss Vicky Vaden For her daughter s wedding, Mrs. Winsett wore a pink crepe dress complemented with matching accessories and a corsage of pink carnations The bridegroom’s mother wore an aqua silk shantung dress with matching accessories and a white carnation corsage After the ceremony the couple was honored with a reception in the Fellowship hall ofthe church.Members of the houseparty were Miss Debbie Winsett. cousin of the bride, from Brownswood; Mrs. Virgil Win sett, aunt of the bride; Miss Sandy Tubb, Miss Jeannene Hicks, and Miss Linda Hicks, both cousins of the bride groom; and Mrs Ellen Odum, aunt of the brideThe bride's table was laid with pink satin overlaid with pink Chantilly lace accented with burgundy An arrange ment of pink carnations and burgundy gladioli centered the table flanked by burgundy ta pers.
