Former BeltonianWeds In HoustonMiss Mary Katherine VanDyke of Houston, formely of Belton and Paul James Smith of Houston were married in a ceremony at the first Methodist church of Houston Sunday, April 7. The Vows of the double ring ceremony were read by the Rev. W. F. Bryan before an altar banked withgreenery. Floor baskets of white calla lilies and white tapers in wrought iron candelabra were placed on each side of the altar.Background music was furnished by Mr. Roloff, organist, who also played accompaniment for Harris Campbell who sang “Because”.The bride who was given in marriage by her brother, Claude VanDyke, were a beige dressmaker suit with white blouse and brown accessories. She wore a brown picture hat of straw and a gardenia corsage.Miss Fern Williams of Houston was maid of honor and J. W. Smith of Donna, Texas, serve as best man.Mrs. Smith is a graduate of Belton high school and attended Mary Hardin-Baylor college. She is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Claude VanDvke, who were residents of Belton for many years. She has lieen employed by the Federal Reserve bank of Houston for about four years.Mr. Smith is a graduate of Donna high school and of Edin-berg Junior college. He is employed by a steel company of Houston.The bride’s brother, Claude VanDyke, entertained the wedding party with a dinner following i the ceremony. Out of town guests at the wedding were Mrs. Jessie Smith of Donna, mother of the bridegroom, Mr. and Mrs. FredGilmore of Welasco and Mrs. Lois Barber of Belton.
