DECLINE IN ELOPEMENTS TO BELLOWS FALLS, VT BELLOWS FALLS, VI. April 21— Within the past six weeks there has been a noticeable dropping off in the number of couples Who have come here from outside the State to be married. Previous to March 1 there were at least two or three couples here every day, but since that date there have been days in succession when the office of Town Clerk L. 8S. Hayes was not visited by anyone wishing a marriage licence. On May 1, the Dunham Marriage law, which will make it necessary for couples from outside the State to give five days’ notice of intention to marry, will go into effect, and will put an end to this town as a Gretna Green. Thirteen months , this town was “discovered” as a “Gretna Green” and in that time more than 1500 couples, practically all of them from outside the State, have come here to be married. The usual average for a month was well over 100, but in March only 43 couples came here. Rev J. Wallace Chesbro of the Baptist Church has married more than 26 couples in several of the months since the boom started. In March he married 12 couples from outside the State. Rev John ©, Prince of the Congregational Church married six, as did Justice Thomas B. O’Brien and Rev A. C. Wilson of the Episcopal Church. Rev Seymour H. Smith of the Methodist Church was a close second to Rev Mr Chesbro, with nine. Rev _V. BE. Blaybrough of the Uni versalist Church married three couples and Justice Robert R. Twitchell one. Couples who received licenses Wed nesday were Wilson FE. Griffiths, an at torney, of West Liberty, Penn, and Agnes Rockwolld of 88 Centre st, Waver ley, Mass; James C. Slevin of 5 Allen st, Worcester, and Lillian M. Milton of 61 Chalmers at Worcester; FredB. Fletcher and Mrs Mary Chaffee Brig ham, both of 11 Circuit st, Roxbury; John C. Coleman of 66 Pynchon st, Springfield, Mass, and Reta Barno of Port Henry, N_Y; William H. Rhoads of Chester st, Providence, and Mrs Mar garet MacDonald Elliott of Nova Scotia,
