The first grade students of the Townsend elementary school will also have a conducted visit to the library. The older students visited the library' during National Children's Book Week last fall.Broadwater County High School sent 125 students lu the District Music Festival in Bozeman April 14 and 15. Many were entered in solo and ensemble competition Friday.The Mixed Ensemble and six piano entries received superior ratings. Other soloists and the ensemble received excellent and good ratings. The mixed chorus received an excellent rating and the band a good rating. Fur the first time the bands were judged on prepared music as well as sight reading, and die rating received was a composite of the two ratings.The groups with a superior rating will go to the State Music Festival .at Great Foils, May 5 and 6. Previously the State Festival has been held in Missoula.Receiving superior ratings were Marcia Moudree, Marilyn Hargrove and Marilyn Hoffman for piano solos; Loralee Flynn and Peggy Christie, and Adalee Olsen and Peggy Christie for piano duos; and the Freshman piano Quartet consisting of Kathy Williams, Jeannie Christie, Marilyn Hoffman and Marcia Moudree. The Mixed Ensemble members are Margaret Mullany. Jane Williams, Sherry Crum, Marilyn Hoffman, Lisa Lanning. Marilyn Hargrove. Shannon Malcolm, Shelley Iverson, Bill, Jcrrv and Ricky Kifc-to, Tim Turman, Tonv Kaul.Dan Shearer, Larry Mullany.Dale Sprout and Mike Harrig-feld.They were directed by Mrs. Paulie Ragen, music instructor for BCHS and Mrs. Lorraine Kitto, piano and organ instructor.ard John Steadman.
