On Thursday -at 1 o’clock Mrs. (Herbert S. Hadley entertained twelve friends at a course luncheon, the second of the week, the first being 011 Wednesday. The table was beautifully decorated. On the handsome cluny doylie was a large basket of parti-colored sweetpeas. The place cards were hand-*painted in the same dainty flowers, making a typical April decoration. The guest of honor was IMrs. John William Lyman of Kansas City, the sister of Governor Hadley. The guests were Mesdames W. W. Graves, O. B. Thomas, C. P. Hough, A. McHenry, Cecil W. Thomas, Fred Gieseeke, W. M. Robinson, Jas. McVoy, Lawson Price and C, B. Allbritain. Mrs. Hadley and Mrs. Lyman sat at either end of the table. This was a most delightful affair and a charming way in which to meet Mrs. Lyman, who is always heartily welcomed when•she is a guest at the mansion./On Friday the following guests of Mrs. Hy. Priesmeyer will arrive to attend and take part inthe Miller-Priesmeyer wedding:Miss' Florence Lynch of Monmouth, 111.; Miss Grace O’Malley, Albany, Mo.; Miss Louise Berry, Tulsa, Okla. The latter young lady has visited here before and made many friends.Mrs. Ethel 0wings returned on Wednesday from the wreek end at Montgomery City, returning hy way of St. Louis.On Friday, April 19, Mrs. John 'George Fackler will reach her 89th birthday. She lives in the 400 block on East Main street. Her late husband, Dr. Geo. Fackler, was a min-. ister of much prominence in the Presbyterian church, Mrs. Fackler is a lady of much culture and is held in high esteem by her relatives and friends.Mrs. Mary [Rupert, who has been spending some time in Kansas City, stopped en route to her home in Atlas, 111., to visit her daughter, Mrs. Sam Haley.Mrs. Frank Ring, Misses Paisie Wrate, Edith Bowlin and Alice Prendergast of St. Louis will arrive on Friday to be the guests of Mrs. Jack Priesmeyer and Mr. Priesmeyer on East McCarty street until after the marriage of Miss Charlotte Priesmeyer.Mr. George Reid of Chicago arrived on AVednesday to visit his j daught.gr; Mrs. Chas. Tweedie, and Mr. Tw'eedie.At the entertainment given on Wednesday afternoon by Mrs. ClairMiller and Airs. Ogla Meals Miss Charlotte Priesmeyer was the recipient.of a beautiful picture handsomely framed. It was that of a bride with an armful of roses. It was tied up in silk paper with tulle and white satin rihbbon and will long serve as a reminder of the delightful afternoon.Mrs. John P. Gordon did not entertain on AVednesday afternoon.The Jefferson theatre with its excellent pictures, good music and comfortable surroundings is proving a pleasant place to spend anevening.
