GRANITE CITY CONTRACTOR'S SON MARRIES ST. IiOUlSIAXFred Slay of 2124 D street, Granite City, son of a wealthy contractor, and Miss Catherine Kretschmann of 2714 Caroline street, St. Louis, were i married by Rev. J. F. Klief in St. Peter's church, Granite City, yesterday afternoon. The ceremony was the first ever performed in the church although it was erected In 1893.After the ceremony the couple, accompanied by relatives, went in an automobile to the home of the bride's Either where a wedding supper was served. They returned last night to their new home, Twenty-third and State streets, where every preparation had previously been made to begin housekeeping. The house was built by the senior Slay and until two months ago had been rented. The question of a new occupant revealed the engagement of the couple when young Slay told his father he need not look further for a new tenant.For several months Miss Kretsch-mann had been making her home with her aunt, Dr. Mary Wedig, at 2119 E street. It was on one of her visits in Granite City foui years ago that she became acquainted witji Slay.Slay's father was seriously Injured in a runaway accident several weeks ago. Three ribs which were broken have not yet knitted. This prevented him from accompanying! the party across the river but he was present at the ceremony.UNOFFICIAL RETURNS SHOW
