Hej stated that China is for peace and' not prepared for war. and that there is no such tlting as prosnerity in China. “We should give China the help they need, give them the same gospel that will make America prosperous.Jewelry and many other things were brought by Mr. Eckerson to illustrate his address, which was of deep interest to all.This was also the occasion of the first graduation exercises of the C. E. Society since March 8. 1929, and was held as a tribute to the late Mrs. Taber Knox, who was president . •' of the society for nearly thirty-five ; years. JFor a time after the passing of Mrs. Knox the society had different leaders, and then Mrs. Roy T. Elston. the present president, took charge. The society was organized by Mrs. Knox on March 8. 18S5. andshe continued its president until the time of her death.Mrs. Elston conducted the exercises of the graduation and presided throughout the evening. Six young people were graduated from the Junior society to the Senior society, making 230 to graduate up to the present time. Those to receive the diplomas Thursday evening were Marjorie Holmes, Caroline Arm- . . strong. Marion Cienennon. Garfield ! ’ Gesell. William Hotaling. Howard P ' Miller. Jr. Others who had become ! of the age to join the older societv since the last graduation and were among those to join the seniors Thursday night, .include Miss Ruth Svem. Frank and Stanley Dolson. and Claude Demouth and Joseph Stocken.Miss Helen Van Ness, president of the senior society, with the assistance of. Miss Helen Eurich. Miss Louise Martin. Miss Lois Babcock, Miss Marion Wilson and Miss Evelyn Hyatt, received the new members into the society.• 9t?er.part$ of the program consisted of hymn selections, the First Psalm by Howard P. Miller. Jr prayer by the Rev. Taber Knox; report of the society's work by Mar-ion Clendennon, the secretary aviolin selection by William Hotaling: a vocal solo, by Mrs. Ralph Welch; with Mrs. Elsie Stocken at the piano.About one hundred were present.
