Cordes, 78, Leroy Township, Mower County, MN. formerly of Gilmore City, were held Wednesday morning, April 13. at the First Presbyterian Church in Leroy, followed by an afternoon service at the Faith United Methodist Church In Gilmore City. Burial was in the Good Hope Cemetery in Gilmore City. He died Sunday. April 10. at the Sl Olaf Hospital in Austin. MN.The Hutchins Funeral Home of Leroy was in charge of the arrangements.Survivors include his wife, Ethel of Gilmore City, one daughter, Sharon Grass of Leroy; one son, Richard Cordes of West Union; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Gilbert Cordes of Swea City; and two sisters. Elsa Cuthbertsoo of Rolfe and Bertha Cordes of Fonda. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.John Cordes was bom June 23,1915, in Pocahontas County. He was united in marriage to Ethel Lowe in 1936 at AJgona.
