Norman-Brinkley Marriage Solemnized j Easter Sunday at First Methodist Church(Photo by Ronnie) Mr. and Mrs. Ben James BrinkleyPalms and Easter lilies adorned he white covered altar of the First Methodist church on Easter Sunday afternoon, for the wedding of Miss Shirley Ann Norman. ! daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest ! L. Norman, and Ben James Brink-| 'ey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Luther j Brinkley of Muddy.I Illuminated by white tapers in standard eadelabra, sprays of plu-j mosis on a white background, lanked by pedestal vases of white gladioli, achieved a bridal setting oefore which the Rev. W. L. Cum mins officiated at the single-ring ceremony at 4 o’clock, in the -resence of a large group of rela-I ives and friendt.At the organ Mrs. Robert Nor-! nan, sister-in-law of the bride, j wearing a frock of orchid taffeta 1 Tnd yellow glamellias as a shoulder corsage, played a prelude of bridal | music As soloist, Bill Williams sang “Because” and “Wonderful One,” with accompaniment by Mrs. j Norman, who later played the traditional wedding marches.Escorted to the altar and given in marriage by her father the bride wore a gown of white chan-j tilly lace over slipper satin with | long mitts of matching lace. Small lapels formed the V-shaped neck line from which small lace covered buttons extended the length of the fitted bodice, the full skirt worn over a hoop extending into a wide circular train. A tiara of seed pearls held secure the lace edged veil of illusion and Better Times roses formed the bridal bouquet.In a fioor length frock of tur-quois taffeta, identically styled. Miss Barbara Lane, close friend of j the bride, as maid of honor, wore long mitts and a crownless hat of matching taffeta. She carried a | bouquet of Gloria roses.From an ornate basket, Janet ! Hall, small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Hall, as flower girl,| showered rose petals in the path • of the bride. Her floor length frock and bonnet of pink embossed organdy were enhanced by pink land blue sweetpeas worn as a jcorsage.The bridegroom chose as his attendants, Rudy Metcalf, a close friend, as best man. and as ushers, Robert Norman, brother of the bride, Donald Disney, Charles Al-vis Rude and Robert S. Davenport.Following the ceremony a reception was held at Wesley center. Mrs. Brinkley, mother of the bridegroom, was attired in navy blue crepe and wore a small white hat with white accessories. Both mothers wore pink glamellias to complement their '-‘ostumes.The yellow and white color theme was carried out in decoration, with yellow jonquils forming a centerpiece for the refreshment table, and with forsvthia encircling the companion punch bowls, i from which punch was served w'ith ‘white frosted cakes, decorated i with yellow confection roses. Crys-! jtal holders holding yellow tapers ! | were also encircled with jonquils.i A twin arrangement of white (tapers in crystal holders marked the lace covered table centered by i j the w edding cake of three tiers, wreathed by plumosis and inter spersing jonquils. Tiny rosebuds I of yellow confection decorated the ; cake which was topped by a tnin ;ature bridal couple standing under 1 a wedding bell.Hostesses were Mrs. W. L. Cum mins. Mrs.4 I Otis Youngs, Mrs. Joe Gidcumb, Mrs. William Stain, Mrs. Gladius Gibbs, Mrs. T. O. Norman. Mrs. Harry Border. Mrs. C. L Travis. Mrs. J. W. Hill, Mrs. J. P. Moore and Mrs Dean Hill, who was also responsible for floral decoration of the altar and of Wesley center.Ihe bride, a graduate of the ! Harrisburg Township high school, (class of 1946, will continue her employment as assistant secretary ! at the high school. The bridegroom, also a graduate of H. T. H. IS., class of 1945, is a student at (Southern Illinois university, Car-bondale. He attended the Univer-(sity of Illinois for one year and: was in service for'18 months dur- j | ing World War II.Mr. and Mrs. Brinkley left immediately for a brief wedding trip and w ill be at home this week-end at 214 East Lincoln.Out of town guests in attend ance at the wedding and reception were Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hill and daughters, Phyllis and Judy, Mr. and Mrs. Vollie Corder, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cox and daughter.
