Miss Baird and Cecil Hamil ton Secretly Married Jan. 11 at Oquawka, Morning Sun, Ia., April $.—Two of Wortiing Sun's high school gradu ates of the class of 1928 surprised their many friends when they an nounced they were secretly married Saturday, January 11 at Oquawka, Illinois. This was revealed at a party cluth by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Syphret, living east of Newport, Saturday eve ning, April 6, when unique an nouncement cards were issued to their guesta telling of the marriage of Miss Myrtig Baird to Mr. Cecil Hamilton. The diversion of the evening was progressive rock at eleven tables. Mrs. Don Pagemiller and Mr. Mr. Cecil Hamilton scored the highest points. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. T. A. Baird of Newport. Having finished her high school course, she attended junior college in Burling ton. She has been a successful teacher this year in the home school at Newport. Mr. Hamilton is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Charli Hamilton living east of Newport and is a progressive farmer. They will reside on a farm near Newport. Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton are receiving congratulations from their many friends, Miss Hazel Hull, who is taking nurses training in Cedar Rapids, re turned to her work Monday after a few days’ visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hull. Miss Dorothy McClenahan, who at tended the Southeastern Teachers association at Burlington, Thursday and Friday, spent the remainder of the week with her brother, Mrs. Eem ma MacClenahan, returning to her work in Davenport Monday. Prayer service was held at the home of Rev. and Mrs W. G. Barr at 9:50 Tuesday morning. Rev. Barr was the leader and there was a good attendance. The Wednesday morn ing service will be held with Mrs. Maud Mehaffy. Preaching each eve ning at 7:30 at the Methodist church, Rev. and Mrs. W. J. Giffin and son John went to Iowa City Tuesday to see Mildred Baird of this city, who is a patient at the University hos pital. Mrs. Edna Graham returned home from Burlington the first of the week. Preparatory communion services will be held Friday and Saturday at the Reformed Presbyterian church, with communion Sunday morning at 16:30 o'clock. Rev. Piper is ex pected here Thursday from Bloom ington, Ind., to assist Rev. H. G. Patterson in these services. Leonard Hutchison returned from Wright, Il., where he has been a patient at the soldiers home. Mrs. J. M. W. Cannon of Idaho came Friday for a few days with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Juliet Can non, leaving Wednesday evening for Overland, Ohio, to visit relatives. Earl Fent, who is employed with the Monarch Store company of Beaver Dam, Wis., came Saturday for a week-end visit with his sis ter, Mrs. Leota Wilson, and son Le Roy. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Griffin, Dr. and Mrs. W. C. Griffin of Chicago, David Griffin of Sylvis, Ill., came Monday to see their father, N. E. Griffin, who has been ill for sev eral weeks. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Carthers en joyed a visit from their grandchil dren, Harold and Marylin Sexton, of Oakville. C. S. Samson of Washington spent Tuesday with his son, L. M. Samson and family. Plans for the Royal Neighbors district convention to meet in the Morning Sun high school, June 138, were completed at a business meet ing held Monday evening by the lo cal Royal Neighbors lodge with a good attendance. Following the business dainty refreshments were served.
