Stale Champ*The Ocean Springs girls’ team of the Negro school won the state basketball tourney in a battle with the team from Sacred Heart in Greenville. This is the second year for them to win the state championship, the title being the 1 result of having won three tour-■ naments. After winning all their 1 conference games for four consecutive years, they came out 1 victorious in their conference tournament at Gulfport against Randolph High school of Pass Christian and were winners of the district tourney at Lampton when they defeated Prentiss Institute. The semi-finals were won in a game with Yazoo City. Members of the team are Geraldine Wallace and Alicia Canaan, the high scorers of the three tournaments, also Marie Stewart, captain. Shirlev Wallace. Barbara Reed. Judy McLaurin, Mary Alice Galloway, Susie Mayfield, Mar-tis Williams, Mildred Smith. Para Lee Smith, Lillie Mae Williams, Vida Belle Rogers.
