Courtney RiteSolemnizedUnited in marriage at a candlelight ceremony at noon Saturday in the Damascus Friends Church were Miss Marilyn Kay Courtney and Brian Dean Crouse.The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Floyd J. Courtney of Damascus and the late Mr. Courtney. Her husband's parents are Perry Knight and Cara Crouse of Medina.The young couple recited their nuptial vows in a doublering ceremony with the Rev. William Buell officiating. Nuptial music featured organ recordings by Virgil Fox, and soloists were Mr. and Mrs. Jay Courtney.As the bride was escorted down the center aisle by her brother. Jay Courtney from Indianapolis, Ind., “The Wedding March” was played from an old-fashioned music box which belonged to her great uncle.The bridal setting featured a background of palm leaves and baker’s fern, and was illuminated with an arch and spiral 33-candle candelabras.A classic, slipper-length gown of imported organza and Venise lace in an antique ivory was worn by the bride, and she carried a cascade bouquet of white phalaenopsis orchids, stephanotis, baby’s breath and ivy accented with green foliage.The bridal gown was designed with a full circular skirt and attached chapel train which was bordered with lace, and a fitted bodice having a high split neckline and long sheer bishop’s sleeves, venise lace lavished the bodice, sleeves and cuffs.To add to the enchantment of her gown, the bride wore a Camelot headpice of matching organza and lace, securing a fingertip mantilla of illusion delicately bordered with Venise lace.Stylish, slipper-length blue gowns in an Empire mode wereworn by the bride’s attendants. Miss Judy Steer of Damascus as maid of honor, and bridesmaids, Mrs. Jay Courtney of Indianapolis, a sister-in-law of the bride, and Miss Mary Crouse of Medina, a niece of the bridegroom. Each carried a cascade bouquet of yellow ompon chrysanthemums, aby’s breath and ivy.Jay Courtney, the bride’s brother, also served as best man, and groomsmen were her uncle, Floren Courtney of Sebring, and Scott Pearce of Canfield, a cousin of the bride.For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Courtney was attired in a long gown of blue flowing polyester accented with a cymbidium orchid corsage. When leaving on her wedding trip the bride was wearing a light blue pantsuit.The new- Mrs. Crouse is a 1974 graduate of West Branch High School, attended Malone College, and was a graduate from Raedel Business College in Canton.
