Caswell of Matlapot-sett, and Irving Mayo, aged 21, of the same town, ran away from home Thursday evening and were married in Providence yesterday.The girl’s parents, who have opposedtheir daughter keeping company withMayo, are heartbroken over the affair.They have gone to Providence to bringback the young bride, who is stayingwith a cousin of her husband in thatcity. Mayo is reported to have leftProvidence yesterday afternoon forMHttapotsett. His Intention was to gotsome money and return to Providenceto go to work in that city.Since the disappearance of the girlThursday night all trace of her waslost until today word was received ofher marriage. She and Mayo boarded a New Bedford Onset car at (i o’clock, and that was the last heard of them. Mrs Caswell spent all day yesterdaysearching for her daughter In this city, but found no trace of her. It was suspected that the runaway couple had gone to Rhode Island, where Mayo w as In the habit of visiting. As a last resort Mrs Caswell notified the local po* llce^ and engaged Justus A Briggs Jr of this city to prosecute Mayo for abduction If he could be found.From a Providence source It Is learnedthat Miss Caswell and Mavo were accompanied by Lillian Rogers. In the Rhode Island city she posed a» a widow. The local police, who had her in the court this morning, believe that the name Is assumed. Hhe !s a sister of Mayo, and aocompanled her brother andhis sweetheart on their runaway trip. Jhe ,part' Wfnt llt; Pall River from this city and spent Thursday night In a hotel. Friday morning they continued their Journey to Providence and wentto the home of Albert Mayo on Transit at.Later In the day they went to cityhall and secured a marriage license.The girl gave her age as Is; Mavo said he was 21. They had no difficulty In getting the. license nnd no trouble In getting Rev Mr Plummer to marry them.
