and for .the love of service. ’In the course of his speech Dr. Varma said he often wondered why the Government' school buildings; were never used for the purpose nf after school education.Speaking after Dr. Varma, the Rev. S. M.. Jones also referred-to the need of after-school education and said the Senior School seemed an ideal place for night school. . ‘ Councillor Mary Morris Knibb who spoke subsequently, welcoming Mrs. Aiken, made the announcement that she had recently got permission for the use of . .the Kingston Senior School for after school education. The Director of Education had appeared very sympathetic. Classes for boys ; and j girls over the Elementary school. age, she said, would ■ soon be started. She had already obtained two machines to be used in a sew-1 ing class for the girls and was sure; money would be raised for the scheme. .Other speakers were Madame Wheatle. whom Mrs. Knibb introduced as doing her bit in running free, at present, a sewing class for a group- of girls.Miss Ethel Douglas, * an Ameri-: can visitor, accompanied Mrs, Aiken.
