A Croydon trash collector, awaiting grand jury action on an involuntary manslaughter charge, today was arrested on in charge of attempting to kill his daughter-in-law with a rifle. Nicholas Saranzak, 47, of 2201 ‘Buchanan Ave., was arrested by Bristol Township police upon the complaint of his daughter in-law, Joanne Saranzak of 2278 Traylor Ave., Cornwells Heights. Heard Noise Mrs. Saranzak told police she went to her father - in - law’s house in Croydon shortly after midnight. When she arrived and knocked on the door, she told police she heard a noise. It turned out to be the bolt of a rifle as Saranzak, police stat ed, came out of the house with a rifle in his hand. Mrs. Saran zak said she fled across the lawn to a neighbor’s home to summon help. Patrolman Richard Batezel and George Stuckey arrived and placed Saranzak under arrest. Arraigned before Justice of the Peace John Walker, Bristol Sa ranzak was released in $1,500 bail for a further hearing on charges of assault with attempt to kill and pointing a deadly weapon. Indicted On Charge Saranzak was indicted by the ‘Bucks County Grand Jury last week for involuntary manslaugh ter and other charges stemming from an unusual fatal accident in Cornwells Heights last April. In the accident, George H. Kurtz Jr., 49, of 5638 Newportville Road, was killed instantly when he was struck in the head by a large metal stop sign. Saranzak’s car struck the stop sign at the corner of Newport ville Road and Power Ave., send ing the sign hurtling through the air. Kurtz was burning trash in the side yard of his home when hit by the sign.
