Methodist team ROWLAND HEIGHTS = The Bell Memorial United Methodist softball team won the championship trophy in the final play off, recently, with other churches of the area. The final game was a narrow victory (4-3) over the First Baptist Church of Hacienda Heights. There were seventeen of the senior high group of youth who attended the denominational camp held at Wrightwood, Aug. 30 thru Sept. 5. The youth were accompanied by the pastor, the Rev. Ehrhardt Lang, who served as a Counselor, Jim and Judy Reiss, who have been in charge of the young peoples’ work this summer, have just returned after two weeks of training in Washing ton, D.C., for work in the Peace Corps. The couple will be leaving Nov. 9, on an assignment in Brazil. Kick Off dinner ROWLAND HEIGHTS = Rowland Raiders High School Athletic Booster Club is having their an nual Sports “Kick Off” Dinner this Saturday, Sept. 19 at 6:00 p.m. at the Rowland High School “Hideout”. Purpose of the dinner is to meet the athletes of the fall sports, which are; football, cross-country and water polo. Chairman in charge of activities and donations is Joseph Lesicka, with Mrs. Frank Warsinski and Mrs. Mike Myer as co-helpers. The menu is roast beef with all the trimmings. Donations are adults $1.50, child (under 12) $1.00. Tickets are being sold by all players of the different football divi sions. Further information on the tickets may be ob tained by contacting Mr. George Van Zant, athletic director at 965-3448 or Mr. Tom Harris, presi dent at 964-3564. DB Cowboys DIAMOND BAR -- The Cowboys kickoff the first game of the season on September 19 at Lor beer Jr. High School against Charter Oak. There will be three separate games involving the Jr. PeeWees, Pee- Wees and Jr. Midgets, with the games starting at 11 am., 1 p.m., and 3 P.M. Refreshments will be sold at the games with all proceeds going towards new uniforms for the boys. Several fund raising
