The Meadowbrook Public Water District will seek federal and state financial assistance for construction of a sewage disposal system for the Meadowbrook area, the Telegraph learned today. The district will ask for a total of $556,210 in assistance for the disposal plant following a preliminary study by district engineer Clifford Abraham. Meanwhile, however, the Southwestern Illinois Metropolitan Area Planning Commission (SWIMPAC) recommended that the board make a feasibility study of tapping onto the Alton. Bethalto interceptor system. Abraham told the board that tapping into the in terceptor system would almost double the cost of constructing their own system, but he and financial consultant William Fisher were authorized to make a feasability study of both proposed systems. Madison County Sanitation Officer Paul Hawkins has cited a number of Meadowbrook residents for violations of pollution laws because of overflowing septic tanks, illegal discharge in to roadside ditches and complaints of health hazards.
