William E. Rhodes Faces Drunken Driving Charge As Result Of Crash—Two Persons Hurt Two persons were injured, neither seriously, when automobiles oper ated by William E. Rhodes, 25, 1032 Broadway, and H. E. Spangler, 23, 41 West Middle street, collided on the Hanover-Abbottstown highway, about three miles north of Hanover, last night at 8:30 o'clock. Spangler and his wife, Mrs. Calista Spangler, received bruises in the mishap. They were treated by Dr. Paul Estep, Abbottstown, Rhodes was unhurt. Private A. J. Tappe, of the Get tysburg detail of the Pennsylvania Motor police, who investigated, laid an information before Justice of the Peace Lester J. Sell, York street, charging Rhodes with operating a motor vehicle while under the in fluence of intoxicating drink. The defendant was lodged in the York county jail in default of bail. No time has been set for the hearing. According to information given the investigating officer, Rhodes was driving toward Hanover on the wrong side of the highway, as Spangler approached from the south. Spangler, the officer was told, swerved to his left to avoid a col lision, and as he did so, Rhodes swung back toward his side of the road. Damage to each car was esti mated at about $175. Both were towed to a Hanover garage.
