ANOTHER RABID DOG. A Canine Suffered From Hydrophobia Cre ates Much Damage, Franklin, March 4—(Special.)—Resi dents of Utica, Canal and the surround ing county have been thrown into a state of panic by the action of a dog with an attack of rabies. A. F. Deets, of Canal, was in town this afternoon, and said that yesterday afternoon a dog, owned by Mr. Russe! went mad, and raised havoc. After biting several sheep and a dog belonging to a farmer, living in the neighborhood. He then started across the country In the direction of Cochranton, all bit several dogs on the way, as well as some hos; he snapped at a dog longing to Mr. Deets, but did no damage. As a matter of Bees Mr. Deets has chained up this Og. The farmers throughout the country through which the canine had operated, realizing the seriousness of the affair,arm ed themselves with shot guns, revolvers and clubs, and started out to kill the madog, and by 2 o'clock last night there was no less than 0 armed men scouring the county, on horseback and in vehicles of all descriptions. Early this morning some section men, working at Sugarcrvek sation, noticed a degiving by the track, which refused to get out of their way and show that a disposition to attack them. Seeing the ropes of froth and clotted blood on its mouth the men con clude not to dispute the way longer, and left the dog in possession. A pwasing far mer was told of the circumstancers,and tak ing the brake lever from his wagon, he allied to the attack. The dog was still lying beside the track, and stealing quietly up he dealt him a crushing blow over the heal with the tron, killing him instantly. No less than ten dogs have been bitten by this one, and also several dogs ant sheep; what other have been bitten remains to be seen. The mad dog that did the biting was a large shepherd, brown, with a white breast and weighing probably 60 pounds
