LDS Church Readies Plans To Acquire Canada Ranch Plans have been completed for the Church of Jesus Christ of Lat ter-day Saints to take over the 80,000-acre Kirkaldy ranch near Raymond, Alberta, Canada, Sept. 1. Joseph L. Wirthlin, first coun selor in the church presiding bish opric announced Sunday. Bishop Wirthlin returned Sun day from an inspection of the newly acquired property. “The land is in excellent con dition and has great possibilities as a cattle ranch. The church plans to stock it well with cattle in the fall,” he reported. In the beginning, the ranch will not be operated in connection with the LDS welfare plan, the bishop said, although’ he explained that there is a possibility, it may be come a part of the welfare project “some time in the future.’
