In order to work effectively towards its goals, an organiza tion must first know its com munity. Mrs. Henry T. Moore Jr., president of the Glens Falls Area League of Women Voters, said in addressing a recent meeting of the Glens Falls Chapter of the NAACP in the Parish House. Her subject was “Practical Politics.” Mrs. Moore advocated a study of educational facilities, re ligious services, available hous ing, industries, news media, service organizations and other community institutions. It is important, she continued, to find other persons and organizations who have similar interests and to seek their help and advice. Cooperation among groups with similar aims is helpful to all. “I cannot emphasize enough,’ Mrs. Moore said, “the import ance of knowing your facts and being able to back them up at all times. She suggested ignor ing deliberate misrepresenta tions which will usually die of their own viciousness. More helpful, she said, is a discussion of honest differences that leads to a rethinking and closer scrutiny of objections that may be valid.
