Mrs. John and Will Van Deursen at tended a house party at the home of a friend in Chicago last Friday. The Ladies Aid of the Dolton M. E. church met at the home of Mrs. E. M. Wahmhoff Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Fred Wernicke of Dolton, who was taken to Mercy Hospital, Chicago last week, is reported much improved. A nut worked lose and fell into the well at the Riverdale pumping station last Monday, causing a break-down. Grant Bros. are making repairs. Mrs. B. A. McBride returned home last Saturday from Bourbon, Ill, where she had been called a week previous by the death of an aged relative. Mrs. Dr. Emil E. Fischer, who has been seriously ill for the past three weeks, is slowly recovering, though she still suffers much pain and is confined to her bed. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith of Dalton, left Wednesday evening for St. James Minn., where they will spend the holi days with Mrs. Smith’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Claussen. Edward Gabauer, who has been em ployed the past summer as a farm hand by Frank Claussen at St. James, Minn., returned to Dalton last week. He is now working as a car repairer in the C. E.I. yards. Olton Todd, who has been employed as a clerk by Kern Ripley for the past three months left today for his home in Allegan, Mich. Mr. Todd expects to take up railroad work with the South ern Indiana the first of the year. William Rose and Charley Krueger re turned home Wednesday evening after a three days rabbit hunt at Wellington, Il., where they were the guests of Charley Leverenz. They brought home 36 rab bits. Invitations are out for the marriage of Henry Hilgendorf, popular Dalton young man to Miss Philomena Jones, of Harvey. The ceremony will take place New Year’s Eve. A reception will be held in the Opera House, at Harvey in the evening. Lee G. Haas, of Hazel Crest was married to Miss Katherine Cramer at the home of the brides parents Mr. and Mrs. John Cramer, 13749 Wabash Ave. Riverdale last Saturday evening. The young couple will make their future home in Riverdale. Charley Wilkins, son of Henry Wilkins of Shurben, Minn., is visiting his sister Mrs. Henry Knuth, 13776 Leyden avenue Riverdale and his brother Henry in Highlawn. He reports his father, who was one of the best known farmers and business men in this section, as doing well in Minnesota; his crops the past year were above the average.
