The free attractions advertised were given as promised with the exception of the baloon ascensions Fri day and Saturday evenings and the “Slide for Life” Saturday which were made impossible by the terrible accident which cost Madam La Fere her life.The Fair opened Wednesday under favorable conditions and with good weather and was attended by a large crowd.The special feature on Wednesday was the baby show in which there were eighty-three entries. The judges were Mrs. E K. Beach, the trained nurse in the Newhope hospital, Or. A. R McMahan, of Chicago, and the manager of the theatrical troupe playing in the opera house.' • _First prize was a 7arded to EdwinRoss Adair, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Adair; second to Lemmon Clouse, son of Mr. and Mrs. Her-scbel Clouse; third to Katharine Guoder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Gunder.The fiddling contest on Thursday was enjoyed by the large crowd and the violin, given as a prize by E. S. Fitch, was awarded to Thirza Busz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Busz, of Noble township.The industrial parade on Friday was a feature of the day but was not so large as Iasi year.
