Spexarth reunionIn 1869, Gerhard Joseph Spexard, his wife, and their sons and daughters came to the United States from Germany and settled in St. Paul, Iowa. Of those sons and daughters, Wilhelm married Magdaline Mueller, Adam married Katherine Holtkamp, Maria Catharina married Henry Menke, Christian married Mary Tieken. Anna Maria married Bernard Mueller and after his death married Chris Kuhljurgen, Arnold remained single, Catharina bernadina married Herman Menke, and John Conrad married Mary Ann Bruegenhempke. All of the sons and daughters of Gerhard Joseph Spexard remained in Iowa except Adam, who, with his wife and children, moved to Colwich. Kan., and Arnold, who moved to West Point, Neb.Two great grandsons of one of, the brothers of Gerhard Joseph Spexard are coming to the United States during the month of October for a visit with the American Spexarth descendants. These great grandsons are Bernard Spexard. age 23, and Franz Spexard, age 21.On Oct. 7,1973 at 7 p.m., there will be a Spexarth reunion held at the West Point Knights of Columbus Hall. All of the descendants of the above mentioned children of Gerhard Joseph Spexard are invited to come and meet with each other and especially meet withBernhard and Franz Spexard.
