Three-fourths of the population of Utah are aliens, knowing noth-En*The members of the Mormon Churc h are mostly subjects, of Great Britain, thus making the territory an English colonv while within the borders of the United States government.Mr. Jones informs us that Brigham Young, the great leader, prophet ami spiritual adviser of this deluded ami fanatical sect, lives in a splendid palace, surrounded by a stone wall some eight or ten feet high, the gates of which are continually guarded. Within this enclosureaie a number of small buildings, in connection with Brig ham’s palace or house wherein the business of the Church is transacted, including the titiling office, where the people glt;* to p*y their weekly or monthly dues to the church.Before leaving the territory Mr. Jones participated in a meeting of the Gentiles at which (he following, among other resolutions, were adopted:— Resolved, That Polygamy is anabomination in the Mght of God—-a violation of the laws of nature, tending to degenerate and sensualize our race— a crime punishable by law in every State in the Union, and should not be tolerated in the territories.Resolved, Thai a union of Church and State, and especially one making the latter subservient to the former, is incompatible with our Republican institutions. and any attempt to establish such an union b* ing subversive ot our, rights, we will resist the same by all means in our /)Ower.lie solved. That in our opinion Congress has the power to secure to us a Republican form of Government and we hereby call on that honorable body tomi •exercise thi»t power.Resolved, That the Gentile population of this Territory be requested to aid in an organized effort to maintain« jour rights in Utah.”Hon.
