HighlightsBy DORCAS LEWISHoad Coach Bob Howard when seen around the halls of PHS lately has carried a broad grin on his face. Well, he certainly has a lot to smile about after the outcome of the first 1959 football game Friday, September 18, when PHS defeated John MMarshall by the outstanding score of 38-7. Keep up the good work, boys!By the way, coach, everybody says that you looked mighty sharp at the game. The boys were unusually attractive as they were seen dressed in their coats and ties this week! Too bad that “Missile” picture aren’t taken every week. The Glee Club tryouts were held last week under the supervision of the new. director, Miss Carol Jean Torrence, P. H. S. alumna. AH goes well, it seems, with the songbirds.Mr. Ben Baines, teacher of the DE class, has been leading the faculty fashion, male section, parade of 1960 in a most snazzy sportcoat. Watch for it, please. The PHS Band, with the pretty majorettes and led by Mr. Ralph Slronach, performed splendidly before a mob of spectators at the first football game Friday, September 18. Due credit goes to Alan Payne, drum major of the band, and Pat Szarama, head majorette, for their excellent leadership.Tryouts for the play “The diary of Anne Frank” were held during the past week in the auditorium under the direction of Mr. Edwin M. Betts, Jr. There is great interest.
