Glenwood's 38th annual Homecoming festivities appear “all set” for a big weekend for GHS students, alumni and other guests.The traditional homecoming parade, emphasizing the ’73 theme “World’s Records”, will kick-off the busy two-day schedule of events at 1:45 p.m., Friday afternoon.Schools will dismiss students after the morning classes so they may Join the festivities. Hot lunches will not be served in the Glenwood schools Friday.All caps will be cleared from around the square, as well as Vine and Chestnut Street, from First to Fourth, by 12:30 p.m., according to the Glenwood police. Highway traffic will be detoured two blocks to the south.Parade chairman Carl Hurst expects another jim-dandy parade with between 75 and 100 entries, including at least seven bands.Parade participants are reminded that all entries must be registered at the north office building of Stanley Chevy-Olds between 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Marching numbers will be given out at this time and are to be placed on the driver’s side of the float. Reunion classes may appear in the parade if they contact the parade chairman. Parade entries (floats) will be divided into six categories - civic, specialties, religious, commercial, junior-senior high school and livestock.Student floats, kindergarten through the sixth grades, will assemble for the parade on Fourth and Vine Streets; all others will meet at the football field, entering from the south gate only.Boys and girls with pets, in costumes and on bicycles will line up on 2nd Street, from Vine to Chestnut, heading west.The parade route will be around the square, beginning at the northeast corner.There will be no parking around the square during the parade, except by reservations, which may be made by calling Hurst Seed Store, 527-4577. Senior citizen parking will be permitted on the northside of the square, as space permits and if reservations are made.A list of parade winners and prize money will be left at the Ben Franklin Store immediately after the parade.REUNIONSThe 50-year Honor Class of 1923 will serve as host at the Alumni Banquet in the Methodist Church, starting at 6:30 Saturday evening.Graduates and spouses of the classes of 1923,1938, 1943, 1948,1952, 1962, and 1963 will hold reunions and parties sometime during the homecoming weekend.The Outcasts’ Party (nongrads) will be held in the courtesy room of the Mills County State Bank on Friday afternoon, beginning at 4 p.m.The members of the Class of ’23 will meet on Friday at 6 p.m., in the basement of the Christian Church with Mrs. Dorsey Roll (phone 527-4234) in charge of arrangements.The Class of 1938 will hold their 35th reunion at the Van Pelt Ranch on Saturday evening, beginning at 5 p.m.Graduates of 1943 will meet at the Sundown Supper Club on Saturday evening with Mrs. Betty Hunt in charge of arrangements.The 20 year class reunion (1953) will meet in an open house at the Don Bishop home following the banquet on Saturday evening. Reservations may be made with Mr. and Mrs. Myron Kruse, 527-4571.The Class of ’58 will hold informal get-togethers in the courtesy rooms at the fire station Friday (after the game) and Saturday evenings with a dinner at the Baptist, Church Saturday night.The Class of 1962 will hold their reunion Saturday night with Dick LaRue in charge of res-(Contlnued on Page 2)
