Accuse WoundedMan of AssaultBy Associated PressFLORA, 111., Sept. 23—The arraignment. of Glen Sparlin, 26, on charges of assault with a deadly weapon today awaited his release from the Clay County * Hospital wiiere he was reported apparently improving.”He has been under indictment since Sept. 11 and a bench warrant was served on him Sunday, Sheriff Jack Johnson said.Sparlin was shot and wounded during a fight at the home of his estranged wife, Mrs. Cletis Sparlin, Sept. 5.Sheriff Johnson said Sparlinwent to the house and began attacking his estranged 49-year-old wife with the gear shift lever of an automobile. A1 Clifton, 38, hired by Mrs. Sparlin and her mother, Mrs. Charles Gould, to protect them from Sparlin, shot him with a .38 revolver during the fracas, according to the Sheriff.After he had fired the only bullet in the gun, Clifton said he beat Sparlin over the head several times “to subdue him.
