Clear Creek Township House Built Over Hundred Years Ago Is Still in Use TodayOne of the Arm two-room houses in Clear Creek township, built over one hundred years ago. till stands today and In use on the Anthony form two miles south of Tiffin.The houso. shown nbove, was built by William Sprlngmlre who purchased from the Government iho land on which it stands for *1.25 per acre.Eighty acres Mre'ln the original purchase. but more was acquired later.Mr. Sprlngmire lived In the houso something like twenty-five years, then moved to Kansas.In this two room house were horn Mrs. Robert Anthony and Mrs. Jacob Hnlchnuser. And on this form Mrs. Anthony resided nil her life, passing away there a few years agq. Her two children, Roy and Addle, now roside on the same farm.The old house was moved a few years ago from Its original location and now sets adjacent to a beautiful farm homo of more modern construction.The old rock well with windlass, shown to the right, although now dry. was one of the best In the township and its water was acclaimed by the old timers to he os good as any mineral water to ho found anyplace.The gentleman shown above in the white shirt is Rudolph Louis, a grandson of William Sprlngmire who bull! the century old ho\M.. Mr. Louis was In n playful mood at the time the picture wus taken and wonted to demonstrate how he used to push a wheelbarrow around his grandfather's house when he (Rudolph) was “knee high to a grasshopper.Besides Rudolph, there are nine other giandchlldrcn of William Spring-mire living In Johnson county.
