Interest in raffle high as Sesquicentennial quilts near completionThe New Braunfels Sesquicentennial Historical Quilt Committee, sponsored by the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce,is putting final touches on the first of three handmade Sesquicentennial quilts. Raffle tickets for this quilt have been on sale for the past month ($1 for one ticket or $S for six tickets).“We have had a strong response by people interested in winning the quilt that will be rtf-fled off at the Chamber's Annual Meeting Banquet in January 1996,” stated Betty Worl, Sesquicentennial Quilt Committee Chair. She added, “We had such a large response of participants entering quilt blocks, we can produce another quilt that will also be raffled. The committee has decided that the second Sesquicentennial handmade quilt will be raffled off at an event in April 1995 during the week-long Sesquicentennial celebration.”1!If \ • •If you purchase a raffle ticket prior to April 1995 for the Sesquicentennial quilt, it will be good for both the April 1995 drawing and the January 1996 drawing. “Many people have already purchased tickets and we greatly appreciate their support,” said Worl.In 1993 Mary Ann Thompson and Nell Morton were appointed to Co-Chair the Sesquicentennial Quilt Committee with the goal of producing a quilt depicting historic sites in New Braunfels. Mission Valley Textiles agreed to donate the fabric as well as the cost of printing raffle tickets.Because of the large number of entries, there will be four quilts.
