t Jury Exonerates CoqI At EasternPORTALES (Staff) - A 12 member jury, impaneled to bear a civil suit against Eastern New Mexico University student Katha Wood who was being sued for damages resulting from a 1970 dormitory fire, returned a verdict in favor of the defendant late Thursday afternoon in Portales* Ninth District Court.Miss Wood, a resident of De Baca Halt women’s dormitory , at ENMU in November, 1970,|(was being sued by The Insur-I pence Company of North Ameri-i jca (representing ENMU as insurance agent) for over $7,000 in damages that resulted from a fire in her room.The insurance comnany bad chareed in the suit that Miss Wood had negligently left a candle and incense sticks burning ir, her unoccupied room and that the fire occurred as a result.The jury Thursday, however, exonerated Miss Wood of all! charges brought forth in the1 civil suit action.
