ANOTHER FINE RECITALBY MUSCATINE ARTISTS.The Congregational church last evening contained a very fine audience gathered there to hear Miss Nettie Gremmel, the gifted daughter of C. T. Gremmel of this city. It was not the first appearance of the musical prodigy, but since her last recital she has improved wonderfully. Miss Gremmel was a pupil of Mr*. Clara Falk Murphy, who once resided here, but now lives at Duluth, Minn. She has been with Mrs. Murphy for the past year and her work of last evening showed that aside from the marvelous ability that she possesses, she is 4 show ing t ie « xcellence of her instruction. Miss Gremmel’* program last evening was very difficult, but she gave all the numbers with an artistic finish that brought forth much praise from her audience. The program consisted of three groups; the first was two numbers from the works of Bach and Beethoven, next came a Chopin group of four numbers, and the numbers in the last group were bv the later composers, particularly Grieg, Chaminade and Sinding. In the Chaminade number, a spr'Bht-ly cheerful composition, was Miss Gremmel’s perfect technique and delicacy of expression most clearly shown, and she was enthusiastically applauded. In the Chopin numbers her interpretations were exquisite, while her really wonderful technique was the topic of much admiring comment. The faultless manner in which she played the difficult passages in the most classical works of the old masters, her finished technique and wealth of expression, jroved her to be a consummate artist, and Muscatine has every reason to be proud of its musical genius. In a short time Miss Gremmel will leave for Chicago, where she will con tinue her studies at the Chicago College of Music.Miss Gremmel was ably assisted last evening by Muscatine's gifted reader. Miss Helen Block. Miss Block was at her best last evening and h* r selections and impersonations were very good. Her first number was very fine. Her following numbers wore even more enjoyable and called forth hearty applause from the audience.
