TUNING UP for the September 24th Richardson Community Band Concert are Carol Detjen of 2633 Prairie Creek, Richardson, and John Tanner of 1321 Chippewa Drive, Richardson.Community Concert Bandplanning outdoor concertThe Richardson CommunityWBand is presenting an old fashioned outdoor concert on Sunday afternoon. September 24, at 4:00 p.m., on the south lawn of the Richardson Heights Recreation Center. There is no charge and the public is invited.Joe Frank, professor of instrumental music education, director of the SMU Symphonic Band, and former coordinator of music for the Richardson Independent School District, will conduct the band during the day's program.Selections for the presenta tion will include “CTiicago Tribune March,” “A Tribute to Stephen Foster,” ‘‘PentlandHills, “Here’s Chicago,”“Suite of Old AmericanIfDances,” and “His Excellency March. “Here's Chicago” is a medley including “Beginnings. “Colour My World. “Does Anybody Really Know What Time it Is.” and “Free.”The Richardson Community Band is an all volunteer group that rehearses at J. J. Pearce High School every Wednesday n^ht from 8:00 to 10 00 p.m.Anyone who would like to play with the band needs only to show up for rehearsals and sit in on the practice. There ape no try outs for positions. The band is open to anyone who can play an instrument.
