O. car at Mark Center last Sunday night. They have confessed to the theft and their conviction will be comparatively easy. For some time the railroad company has missed goods in transit and were quite positive the merchandise had been taken from their cars between this city and Hicksville. The oflieials of the road employed Mr. Eisor to look up the matter, and that he has succeeded is evidenced by the capture of the thieves in short order that stamps him a detective of no mean ability. As soon as he was commissioned by the company he pioceeded to business. By means best known to othcials he w^as informed that some seed had been found hidden in a straw stack near Mark Center. lie followed the clue dilligently and last night apprised his prisoners in the act of loading the seed on a wagon preparatory to taking it to the State of Indiana and offering it for sale It had been removed from the straw stack and a farmers team been engaged for the trip in prospect.Doda and Dewitt were somewhat surprised at being caught in the act of preparing for the disposal of the plunder but they accepted the situation gracefully and accompalned him to the city. They have made a clean breast of the matter and have explained their mode of operation. They boarded a freight train at Hicksville in the night and located the seed as being of the most value and the most easily disposed of. When the train arrived near Mark Center they opened the car door and dumped the plunder out as the train was running. They proceeded to the village and jumped off returning in time to secrete the seed before day light. The road has missed about 10.000 cigars from cars and the total amount of the losses in the past three months will aggregate 8500.It is thought the men in custody are implicated in ocher jobs but there is no evidence against them. The value of the seed is about $00.00.They are both young men and have heretofore borne very good reputations. Eiser has telegraphed the detective of the road at Chicago and he will be here today to see if the seed is short. The capture Is a very important one and officer Eiser deserves much credit for his skillful work.Hie AntNorthrights totown. The Sa Christian plojed to bailiwick ceedingl^The oil the sportCorbettdraw a tlThe K broughtBoth r to annih or, the n side of n his ultin Sheriff o deputies official sA larg a mill” J ance am short hasimply 1The ct4men wh the go bturned. While fierce £ sentenc of Tolelt; the cro colored Prof. (:•Teerles lunged sans ac “Sally i miugs { base hi'tidious went oi good blt;Tne i nounce the ma the gui and ha led cou more,n the ma the otli telling near tl troubhAt a party light cAdv annou that ei go on a well Lima1The UEd.
