this was not the case.It is stated in the St. Louis Beacon, that a hand of Sacs and Fox Indians attacked aparty of Menominies, in the night, while a-sleep at Prairie du Chien, under the very guns of the United States’ fort, and massacred ‘J4 of them, more t han half women and children.
