Circus Elephant Dies While at Iowa FallsMatt Kickels Secures Head of Animal for MuseumThe LaForge Sons rendering company at Iowa Falls fell heir to a real job Thursday of last week, when a message from officials of the circus showing there told them to come and get an elephant which had just died on the circus grounds. When told that it was an elephant the manager of the plant regarded the matter as a joke and it took considerable urging on the part of the circus men to get the LaForge truck to call for the carcass. The animal, which weighed about four ton, had fallen a few days previous and died as a result of injuries received at the time.The Iowa Falls museum, operated by Matt Kickels, will be enriched by the addition of the head and trunk of the elephant and Mr. Kickels has been busy mounting the new piece. The elephant was over 100 years old and was valued at $1,500 by the circus people.The museum already contains over 5,000 Indian curios, 1,000 guns, comprising one of the best collections in this country, bird heads and animal horns, marine, land and aircraft machines, pioneer curios and antiques, valuable papers and documents, 1,000 ocean specimens, minerals and1 fossils, swords and daggers and musical instruments.Visitors from all over the United States come to Iowa Falls to visit the Kickels museum.
