He’s completed training at Sheppard Field in Wichita Falls, Texas, and been assigned to Maelstrom AFB in Great Falls, Montana. Newton is a 1969 grad, of OHS.+ + + +There are a couple of yards not yet mentioned by Woodside that are particularly beautiful these days. You might want to drive by the John Breyfogles, particularly just at dusk as the foliage has a light all its own that is breathtaking. And compliments to the Ed Menefees up in Havencroft for the sensational color around the front of their home.+ + •+• +And those of us working down town are enjoying the lovely green lawn around Frye’s Funeral Chapel.(Which reminds me. .Hank said the Chiefs had better beat the Chargers or he was in big trouble with his threeSan+ + + +The Picture Lady program begins next week in the Olathe grade schools. The art program is sponsored by the Junior Service League in co-operation with the Nelson Art Gallery. Tell you more about it later.The JSL will also be renting original art from the Gallery to be hung in the Public Library. Information concerning the artist and his work will accompany each picture. The picture will be changed each month. Watch.+ + + +News about our young folks...Chris Bacon has received yet another scholastic honor. He was one of the three top scholars in a national Sigma Nu fraternity “scholar of the year” awards.David Warren Settles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Settles, Olathe, was awarded a bachelor of science degree from K-State at the close of the summer session.Richard Rogers, son of the George L. Rogers, Olathe, has made the K-State Marching Band! The “pride of Wildcat Land” group has been invited to play for the Chiefs opening league game against the Chargers on Oct. 10th. (The Rogers...as with most of the band pa rents...can’t say enough nice things about Ed Badsky, OHS band director.)Mrs. C.A. Jones, Leawood, entertained with a morning coffee at the Leawood Country Club last Friday honoring Mrs. Gary Jones, new Olathe resident.
