tiins To Play BySmith• .* • c _JOE BATES SMITH♦An original radio play by Joe Bates Smith, Sanduskian now gaining fame in New York radio circles, will be presented over Radio Station WTAM by the Harlequins, Inc., at a date to be announced shortly, Jon Wall, Harlequin president announced today.Smith, a member of the Harlequins when he was in Sandusky, is in charge of the radio program, “Echoes of New York,’ broadcast by NBC, and was in complete charge of all radio programs emanating from the New York World’s Fair. He has also had a play produced on Broadway, and has written such famous radio serials as “Death Valley Days.”His play for the local group is “Down Came the Cherry Tree,” which deals with the life of a small town lawyer who solves the problems of all the townsfolk in his own kindly ,way.
