HONEST MAN FINDSBURIED TREASUREThe old story of Diogenes, who went around with a lantern in search of an honest man would not have been a matter of history had Diogenes lived in Brookfield. This is the story of an honest man.Yesterday, without the aid of a lantern. but rather a telephone call to come te 823 McGowan street was received by Night Policeman Omar Ramsey. The gentleman calling was Henry Robinson, WPA worker, who, with his wife and four dependent children, live at this address.Henry Robinson is a man few people know of, and probably this is thej j first time his name has appeared in I print. He is industrious and hard; working, and it has been somewhat of a struggle for the family to meet the everyday needs of the family of six.r It was mentioned, however, that; Henry Robinson is an honest man be- j cause while he was at work ip his garden doing some hoeing, he was as i1startled as though he had seen a ghost1or an apparition of some nature, when his hoe hit a hard substance, and on investigation he found a silver dollar,! He frantically continued his hoeing ‘and at each stroke of the hoe more silver dollars appeared.His first impulse was what he might j do with this money that he needed] so badly, but an inherent honesty that he had developed through the years told him that it was not his and he called Policeman Ramsey. He did notIknow the circumstances of the hid- -ing of this money, nor does anyone else; however, Henry Robinson knew i that it did not belong to him. so he called the officials of our city to take possession of it.-at.We feel that such honesty should ;be rewarded, and this money held for a reasonable length of time, and with no claimant, the Henry Robinson family should be given the privilege of its use. While Henry Robinson is not able to enjoy the luxuries of life, and those that he does have come by hard labor, he has the satisfaction of a conscience that is clear.
