The track being located opposite the air port made * it possible for the spectators to see both the air port, dedication andthe races.Nftie cars competed in the five mile, ten mile and twenty mileraces, for the $1,000 in prizes. The time in all three events wasslow on account of the dusty trackThe only accident of the day occurred in the 20 mile race when Doc Jones of Zeigler, driving the R. S. B. special, owned by C. J. Winters of Carbondale, overturned on the back curve, crushing the driver beneath. Jones was rushed to Holden hospital, where it was stated Monday morning that his condition was not serious. He sustained a broken rib, cuts and bruises.The wreck occurred when Jones attempted to pass another car in the blinding dust and lostcontrol.
