LAKIN — Paul Horner, a Lakin student at the Kansas Technical Institute in Salina, was one of three students who helped a Salina family escape a fire at their home.The students noticed flames coming from the garage of the Jim Arnold family’s home as they were passing by.The family was in the basement of the split level house and wasn’t aware of the fire. One of the boys went to a neighbor's house to call the fire department while Paul warned the family.All family members escaped safely.
