Farewell PartyA farewell party was held in the auditorium on Thursday, Sep ' tember 6th at 7:30 under the direction of Mrs. Guy Sheets for Mr. and Mrs. Deb Victor and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Renk and son, and Miss Laura Clark who are all taking educational leave for a year Mr. and Mrs. Victor are going to school at A and M at Stillwater, Okla., Mr. Renk will attend school at the University at Flagstaff, Ari-zona, and Miss Clark will study in Denver.i The party was in the form of a pot luck supper and over 250 guests were served a delicious supper f sandwiches, baked beans, pickles, salads, cake, coffee and punch.A program following the supper consisted of a song Indian Lullabve by Sonny Victor, an Indian dance by Torehy Martin, Song “Home on the Range” by Clarence Jefferson with the crowd joining in on the chorus, remarks to the departing students bv Elvin Jonas. A gift was presented in behalf of the community bv Pat Cummins to Mr.» *•and Mrs. Victor, and by Sonny Jefferson to Miss Clark, and Mi. and Renk were handed their gift by Eddie Dykma. The remainder of the evening was spent in dancing, and visiting. There were outside of the community guests from Aneth, Tes-Nos-Pos, Toadiena, Fruitland day school. Bedrock, and various other places. Walter Bryant of Naschitti called for the square dancing **’This was the largest gathering in a long time to be held in the auditorium, and showed the wonderful community spirit that prevails in our community and the esteem in which these fine people are held. We wish them success in their studies, and hope that when they are through this year’s course of study that they will return to our community.were: Joe Duncan, Frank Bradley, James Becenti, Lee Tom, Zeely Tso, and Allen Harper.The need for more and better school the reservation over, better roads, more water (keeping the San Juan water here) for irrigation and help for the drought sticken areas was the theme of all speakers.Twenty minutes of the meeting was turned over for questions from the audience.A large crowd was in attend-ence at the meeting, and everyone felt repaid for attending.The spoken comments and feel►ings of these who saw and listened to Mr. Myers was that he was a man one could have confidence and trust in.The group left soon after the meeting as they were to be pre-sent at a meeting in Gallup that ; evening.ii
