A team of mares, one gray and one dark brown, owned by Charles E. Eyres, of Le Mars, pulled a stone boat weighing 600 pounds and loaded with 5,400 pounds of sand towin the event. Henry Groenhagen was the driver of the team.Other teams, in the order they placed, were owned by J. H. Holton, of Remsen; Earl Prodehl, of Moville, and Preking Brothers, of Le Mars. Seven teams were entered. Before the contest, owners of the teams drew for the places their teams would pull. . First load placed on the sledUke vehicle, called a stone-boat, was 1,800 pounds. The stone* boat and load must be pulled 27% feet. Five hundred pounds are added after each team has pulled oi attempted to pull the load.
