Prince, the rno3t,.ftroituneiit mem-1ber of the family now residing in the county, and one of the most interesting and enjoyable affairs-which has marked the recent history of the .' county was held in the nature of a. reunion ; of the family. A total of something over a Hundred people participated in the festivities of the occasion, there being present in addition to the immediate family a number of old-time friends of its'.various members come to renew* the friendships of days gone by.The Princes were first induced to locate in this county by General Alfred Hockley one. of its earliest settlers. General Beckley owned 190,000 acres of land in the county, and iri 1835 brought Clarkson and William. Prince here from Philadelphia, deeding (to them 11,000 acres of his land. Clarkson Prince built a home at a point. on Beaver, while William settled at what is'now Raleigh station, later, in 1856, moving f.o Mt. Tabor, where he built the house in which the reunion was held Saturday, and which is now occupied by Chester Stanley and family. In 1R41 Edward Prince came from Philadelphia and \ joined his brothers in tins—county and made his home here. A singular fact in connection 13 that neither of them came here with the intention of making it their homes, but after their arrival found that the soil and climate couid not well bo improved upon and decided to remain. The first two brothers, Clarkson and William, married daughters of Henry Hull, who lived in Shady Spring district, while Edward married a Miss Phillips, of Fayetteville. In making preparations for the reunion at the old homestead, it was, of course, necessary to have a fe3tal board that would accommodate a large number of people, and aa the facilities of the old homestead along this line were somewhat insufficient, an addition was built to the old dining room,' the two furnishing room to seat about thirty diners at a time.' -The dinner was just ’“like mother used to make, consisting of every thing that the rural larder could supply. A part of the list is as follows: chicken, beef, boiled ham, tomatoes, melons, fruits, ices, three kinds of cake, several varieties of pie, preserves of every description, tea, coffee, milk, pickles and condiments of all kinds and other things 4,too numerous to mention.” The two rooms were beautifully decorated with wild flowers, and to the strains of a violin and piano in another part of the house, presented the height of the festivities a scene of commingled merriment, animation, happiness and contentment that is seen but once in a lifetime. The afternoon was devoted to ole-time • in lt;songs and dances by the younger and [ cor ^moro active members of the gathering, while Lb* vosI of the folks spent most pi the tinu* reminiscencing, and many interesting incidents of days agone wore recited with a great deal of pleasure iu ) his (Continued on ivpwH.)tiecein|WfatieituiactGhinofRUSaFriantfthewashopLittlt Girl Injured .*Mary Virginia, the Lhree-ycar-old daughter of R.
