The safety came about after a series of Menard plays accomplishing 23 yards (minus a fumble and two penalties against Menard) which resulted in Menard having to punt. Joe Hough made a 63 yard punt to Menard’s one yard line, leaving Ingram’s offense with the distasteful chore of both defending their position and travel-ing a field’s length to make a goal. In the next play, Menard defensive players Michael Sanchez and Oscar Molina took Ingram Quarterback Brian Thompson out of his misery by tackling him in the end zone for the safety and the final score of the game.Thompson was sacked three times after that score for a loss of 21 yards making a total of 32 lost by Ingram when the gun went off.A comparison of stats shows Ingram with 9 first downs for a total of 176 yards rushing, 14 passing and 55 yards lost in six penalties. With 12 first downs, Menard totaled 186 yards rushing, 82 passing and lost 40 yards in 5 penalties.
