Lacy to a j wrestling match, called upon Mr. Ult;y at the latter’* place of busipes Saturday night but was unable to make amatch. Mr. Licy-s challenge was issued ja few weeks ago and was as follows: j, • 11 being brought to my attention that jJohn Tosh of this town has made ’ statements in reg ird to my wrestling, I hereby challenge him tlt; a wrest ing ;* i match, the affair to take place in this j i town. I will agree to wrestle him and not weigh over 128 pounds and there is j no limit as to how much lie can weigh. He is entirely out of my class in weight but I would he pleased to take him on. The articles- of the match can be fixed up at any time suitahle to his or ins;manager’s convenience. I will wrestle jlor any part of 5500. A forfeit for whichto the amount of *23 find enclosed.; A. T. LACY.”j Mr. Tosh says he brought written articles for a match and offered to ' make it for a side bet of 5500 and hadthe latter amount ready to post. He offered to wrestle Lacy under the condition’s named in Isaev’s challenge and Herbert Cann or George F. Bolg-r were I named as stakeholders or referees. Mr, i Lack refused to make the match and said the North Adams Herald sporting editor was the only person who could act as stakeholder and that only an out ^ of town referee could act in that eapa- : city. He said he had been buncoed, or | words to that effect, times enough by 1 Adams people and was not gbing to he ^! buncoed anymore. ii Mr. Tosh feels that inasmuch as Mr. .Cann has acted as referee and stake- j holder in past matches for Mr. Lacy , and that on previous occasions Mr. j 'Lacy suggested Mr. Bolger, and since ( ! both are respectable men, that Mr. , Iacy is not very anxious to wrestle. , j Mr. Tosh says he believes his accept-j ance of the challenge is a fair one and | 'is satisfied that the general public will jj concur with him in this opinion.1
